Just your friendly, happy oiler popping in to help you preserve those Mother’s Day bouquets!
- Trim stems at an angle every few days when you change the water. This will help with better water absorption.
- Use scissors to trim dead foliage and leaves below the water line. This will let the plant use all it’s strength to grow! Plus, pulling will cause extra stress, and can string the stalk.
- Drop 2-3 drops of Thieves essential oil blend into the water to keep it fresh! For even more of a boost, add a penny to the vase- the copper acts as an acidifier, which prevents bacteria growth.
- Mix in a can of Sprite, or spoonful of sugar, to the water. It will help nourish the blooms!
- Keep out of direct sunlight and away from fruit. Fresh fruit actually releases tiny amounts of gas that can wilt flowers.
Fresh flowers are just about my favorite thing to keep around the house! I’m so excited for the Farmer’s Market to get going, so that we can take advantage of our local blooms!
